Grade 3: Meet the Teachers

Hammersla Amanda Hammersla, 3rd grade teacher
My name is Ms. Hammersla, I am from Baltimore, but have recently moved to Washington DC and I am so excited to make Chevy Chase Elementary School my new home. I recently graduated from Salisbury University with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. During my time at Salisbury University, I interned in grades kindergarten, sixth and everything in between, but third grade has always been my favorite! Also, I love drawing, and art is something that I look forward to bringing into the classroom soon.
Alanna Rothman, 3rd grade teacher, Team Leader
I am originally from New Jersey and moved to Maryland after graduating from The University of Maryland, College Park!  I have my degree in Elementary Education with a subject specialty in mathematics.  My love for teaching began from an early age when I started teaching dance classes.  I have a passion for fitness and teach fitness classes at the gym after school.  I absolutely love spending time with my family and friends.  I can’t wait to make wonderful memories together at CCES!
Suh, Yena Yena Suh, 3rd grade teacher
Hello! I'm Yena Suh, a bilingual third grade teacher. I majored in Elementary Education at the University of Maryland, with an emphasis in Mathematics. I love traveling to new places and cooking, so I became CELTA certified in hopes that I'd put it to good use one day! When I'm not obsessed with teaching third graders, I love to spend time with family and friends, and taking my dog Cooper on a nice long walk. Let's get ready for a fun year of learning!

I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Bowie State University and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University.  Some of my hobbies are reading, gardening, biking, fashion and traveling to new places.  Each year, I am thrilled to get to know new students and their families.
