The 2020 - 2021 school year begins for students on Monday, August 31st. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning with our Candlewood students! We want our families and students to have all the information they need to prepare for a successful year. This web page is intended to serve as your Information Headquarters for the new school year. School Supply Lists

Students are encouraged to have the materials on our school supply list available to help with organization, note-taking, and other important academic tasks.  The complete list includes recommended supplies for each grade level. 

Distance Learning Schedules

Learning experiences for elementary students will include time in small groups, independent work and teacher-led activities. Students will have live, teacher-led instruction and a full-day of learning activities and supports. Students will also engage in non-screen related instructional activities (i.e. reading assignments and workbook problems).  See below for distance learning schedules by grade level.

Technology Webinar Series for Parents

A series of technology webinars for parents have been scheduled to help parents learn about the new parent portal (ParentVUE) and other digital tools their children will be using this fall (myMCPS Classroom, Kami, Zoom). Webinars will be recorded and posted on the MCPS website. Materials are in the process of being translated into multiple languages and will be posted on the website as well.
