Summer Reading

Have you ever heard of summer slide? Summer slide is a decline in reading ability and other academic skills that can occur over the summer months when school isn’t in session. Numerous studies show that kids who don’t read during summer vacation actually slip in reading ability by the time autumn rolls around. Here’s the secret to preventing the summer slide: Keep learning all summer long. One way to do this is to read for at least 20 minutes every day. Click the link above for more information and to access Candlewood's summer reading website so you can keep reading all summer long.

Kindergarten Jumpstart

Incoming Kindergarten students for the 2020-2021 school year are invited to participate in our Kindergarten Jumpstart program. This 20 day, fully online, self-paced summer program offers opportunities to engage in a series of online and hands-on learning experiences that will help prepare them for Kindergarten in the Fall; 10 days of reading and 10 days of math. The program is not required for incoming Kindergartners. Click the link above for more information.
