Sunday Night Screamer (April 25, 2021)

Good evening Burtonsville Families.  This is your Assistant Principal, Mrs. Gobourne, with the Sunday Night Screamer!

The GT Parent Survey deadline has been extended again.  If you previously received a letter about the screening process for gifted and talented identification and have yet to complete the survey,  the new deadline  April 27th.   Directions to find and complete the form online are provided in the link below. Dates to Remember:

  • Monday, April 26 – Friday, April 30, is a B-Week for students in grades 4 and 5 (Mrs. Feaster, Ms. Lopez, Ms. Williams, and Mrs. Thomas-Smith’s  classes.)
  • COVID-19 pool testing is scheduled for staff and students participating in in-person learning at Burtonsville, Tuesday, April 27, 2021.  Please remember, If you do not complete the consent form, your child will not be able to participate in the testing.  Read more details about the process at https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/reopening/#covid-testing
  • Virtual Family Math Night is this Wednesday, April 28th.  Students will be able to log into their MyMCPS Canvas classroom from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm for two sessions of Math games.  Students can enjoy a week full of fun with math competitions, raffles, and prizes, beginning tomorrow, April 26 through Friday, April 30.  Parents are invited to drive through the bus loop on Tuesday, April 27, from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm; on Wednesday, April 28, from 10:00 am - 5:30 pm, to pick up student's math night supplies and a goodie bag.  

Future School Events:

  • The book fair is coming to Burtonsville Elementary!  The book fair will be virtual this year.  It will run from May 1st - May 14th.  Please visit the school website and the media center canvas classroom to access the school's book fair website.
  • BES will hold a FREE,  In-Person Summer School Program!  The program will run daily July 6th-30th, from 9:30 AM-2:00 PM, which will include an opportunity for students to be served lunch. Burtonsville Elementary's In-Person Summer School Program will include literacy, mathematics, and a rotation of special classes:  Physical Education, Music, Art, and Media. In addition, there will be transportation service provided for students. Official Summer School registration opens May 3rd, but we would love to start planning now by seeing who is interested in having their children attend.  Please let us know your interest by filling out the attached form.  We hope to see your children this summer for this wonderful opportunity! 

Important Reminders::

  • Students who are learning in person are encouraged to bring a disposable or a refillable water bottle to school each day.  
  • Please complete the Student Health Questionnaire at the beginning of each week before sending your child to school.
