School News…

LOST & FOUND -  Did you send your child to school and they returned home missing a hat, jacket, coat, sweater, lunchbox, or water bottle?  It is very likely in Lost & Found at school.  There are hundreds, literally hundreds of lost items in our lost and found waiting to be reclaimed.  Please ask your child to stop and look for their personal belongings. All items not retrieved by the end of this month will be donated to a local charity.

HEALTH ROOM -   Our Health Room is in desperate need of clothing for children ages 5 - 7.  If you have gently used pants, shirts, or socks, that your children have outgrown, we would be grateful for your donation to our Health Room.  Additionally, if your child ever needs to borrow clothing from our health room, please kindly wash and return the items.  Thank you.

Family Needs Assessment:  Our Parent Community Coordinator (PCC), Mr. Getasew Mebrate, has prepared a needs assessment form for families to complete.  Your responses will help him design and facilitate need-based training for Burtonsville ES parents.  Please use the link here to complete a four-question survey.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Mebrate at getasew_j_mebrate@mcpsmd.org

COVID-19

Thank you to our families for continuing to test when they have symptoms or after possible exposure, for using the online tool to report positive COVID-19 test results, and for following CDC isolation guidelines.

Please remember that while masking is optional, masks are temporarily required in some situations:

  • Students presenting to the health room for evaluation of possible COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Staff or students with COVID-19 infection, after completing five days of isolation, who feel well
  • enough to return to school or work (masks are worn until day 10).
  • Individuals exposed during an outbreak, as an alternative to a 10-day quarantine. Exposed staff
  • and students do not need to quarantine as long as they are symptom-free, and can safely wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure.

Yours In Service,

 Kimberly Lloyd, Principal
