The Girls Who Code Clubs program centers around a fun, collaborative, 40-hour Clubs curriculum designed to teach a wide range of skill sets through multilevel content. Gay-Straight Alliance |
Briggs Chaney's Gay-Straight Alliance, welcomes any student who identifies as part of the LGBTQIA+ community or a supporter of those who do. Our meetings are teacher facilitated, but based on student input. Everyone’s privacy is honored and no one is asked to declare their sexual orientation or gender identity, although anyone is welcome to share. What is said in the meeting stays in the meeting. Our goals are to: Create a safe environment in our school for ALL students, especially those in the LGBTQIA community, to educate the school community about the discrimination, oppression, and prejudice that those in the community face, and to fight discrimination, harassment, and violence in our school and community. |

Girls on the Run |
Girls on the Run is a North American non-profit program that works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games, culminating in a celebratory 5k run. |

Minority Scholars Program |
In collaboration with Blake High School, this after school program meets twice a month with 7th grade male and female students that are paired up with a high school mentor. Students have an opportunity to engage in team building activities, examine current events impacting the youth and explore their feelings around their academic growth and potential as a student. |

Multicultural Club |
The multicultural club is comprised of many different nationalities and cultures. Our mission is to educate our students on different cultures as well as their roots of origin. We like to ensure our students are knowledgeable about their heritage and always remain proud of their legacy. Students will engage in activities to promote school-wide cultural awareness through the visual arts, food, school displays, assemblies and announcements, and discussions. |

National Junior Honor Society |
All members must be rising 8th graders and have a minimum 3.0 GPA every marking period from 6th grade through the first three marking periods of 7th grade Membership in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a middle school student. Each week the students will be given a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) challenge to accomplish within one afternoon.
