Video Production 1

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of television. Students learn production fundamentals, how television developed, and television technology through studio and field hands-on experience. Students create their own productions using a school’s video equipment. Students develop advanced writing and production techniques for a variety of television formats and their products are broadcast as part of the Blake Morning News program features.

TV Production, Advanced – Focus on Daily News Production

This class is responsible for producing the Monday through Wednesday and Friday Morning live news program. Students in this class will become adept at several news production positions in the control room and studio. Feature production in this class will concentrate on short promos, intros, or montage projects that can be completed with a short turnaround. Students must have proficiency in editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.

TV Production, Advanced – Focus on Video and News Production

This class is responsible for producing the Thursday Morning live news program. Students in this class will become adept at several news production positions in the control room and studio. Feature production will concentrate on video projects and segments that support our daily news program and are to be entered into video competitions. Students must have proficiency in editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.

TV Production, Advanced - Focus on News Story Features

In this class, Advanced TV students work in partnership with Advanced Journalism students to produce documentary-style video projects. The projects will explore issues or personalities in depth. Students will learn how to identify and produce the four types of television news stories: hard news, features, issues, and news sidebars. Skills to be developed include story development, story planning, scripting the story, producing the story for video, and writing the story for the Internet. Students must have proficiency in editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.

TV Production, Advanced - Acting and Producing for Film and TV

Students in this class will develop both acting skills for the big and small screen and the video production skills associated with enhancing actor presentations. Students will work in groups to film feature productions based on scripted and original sources. These sources will include scenes from movies, television commercials, PSA's, and the hosting of interview programs. Students actors will train in monolouge and character skills while videographers will focus on providing creative set-ups to enhance actor.
