SAT Day Information

Montgomery County Public Schools Offering SAT School Day for all Grade 11 Students

As part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure access and opportunity for all students, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) provides important college readiness examinations to all students. This includes the PSAT during the school day for all Grade 10 students each fall, and SAT School Day for all Grade 11 students each spring. In lieu of the SAT, Grade 11 students also have the option of taking the ACT during a national Saturday administration date. Not only does this approach allow greater access to these important examinations, but it supports efforts to remove barriers associated with college entrance examinations and ensures equitable access to these important steps to college and career readiness.

As a result, our school will be offering the following to Grade 11 students in 2019–2020:

  • The SAT during the school day on March 25, 2020, free of charge to Grade 11 students. Students opting to take the SAT during the school day will be automatically registered.
  • For students opting to take the ACT instead of the SAT, vouchers will be available to students for the national administrations on Saturdays: February 8, April 4, or June 13, 2020.
  • If your child will be taking the ACT, they should see Ms. Sutton during lunch the week of January 21st – 24th for their voucher.
  • Please note that students taking the SAT during the school day must adhere to the same testing protocols that take place on national testing dates, including approval of individualized accommodations.

More information will be forthcoming as we approach the spring test administration. More information can also be found here: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/careercenter/testing/sat-school-day.aspx

If you have any further questions, please contact your child’s school counselor via email or at 240-740-0420 or email Ms. Sutton at Rebecca_J_Sutton@mcpsmd.org
