SAVE THE DATE: HBCU College Fair Friday, February 17, 2023

This free in-person event at The Universities at Shady Grove will provide students in Grades 8–12 an opportunity to meet representatives from more than 50 HBCUs. Representatives will share information and answer questions from students and parents about admissions, financial aid, testing, majors and much more. The event will also feature a college preparation workshop for middle school students and parents, a discussion on college life, FAFSA completion assistance, scholarship information and more. Choose Respect PSA Contest

Attention Middle and High School Students!  Are you looking for an opportunity to display your creativity? Would you like to win up to $1,000? The Choose Respect video contest is now OPEN! Create an original 50-70 second video to promote awareness of dating abuse and domestic violence among teens. For more information read here.

The Teachers Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program has $37,500.00 in scholarships available to our membership. This program consists of up to fifteen (15) $2,500 scholarships. Read here to learn more about the scholarship opportunity and how to apply.

SSL Information and Updates

All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school. SSL forms (https://bit.ly/SSLReflection) should be submitted to the school’s SSL coordinator by the recommended due date of Friday, January 6, 2023, but no later than the required deadline of June 2, 2023. Secondary Students Wanted for Elementary Leadership Conference

The MCPS Office of Student Leadership and Extracurricular Activities is hosting an Elementary Leadership Conference for current 5th graders on Saturday April 15, 2023. We are looking for high school and middle school leaders to be workshop creators or workshop presenters for this event.
