This workshop will be available in English and Spanish. Teens are hanging out with their peers and getting involved in relationships. It is important for them to know the difference between healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships so they can keep themselves safe. This training, in conjunction with Choose Respect Montgomery's RespectFest for parents provides an introduction to what dating violence is, the statistics related to teenagers, warning signs and how to talk to a teenager about relationships. Dating violence resources available in Montgomery County will also be shared. Facilitated by the Montgomery County office of the Sheriff. Recommended for families of middle and high school students.

Will your child be 5 years old by September 1, 2023? For the 2023-2024 school year, Kindergarten registration will take place online through the ParentVUE portal starting March 27. During this session, you will learn more about how to register your child for kindergarten, depending on if you are new to MCPS or if you are already an MCPS parent/guardian. You will be introduced to the MCPS Kindergarten registration website, a one-stop-shop for all things related to registration, you will learn how to navigate the ParentVUE portal process and what documents and materials are needed to register your child. Because kids are using media and tech at a younger age, helping them learn how to navigate their digital world should start as soon as they begin using devices. We should remain engaged and continue these conversations into their teens because as kids get older, online interactions can become more complicated. In this session, we will explore safety and some things you can do to help your kids and teens safely explore digital spaces. Presented by Common Sense Media. This workshop will help families understand the difference between the two college entrance exams in terms of content, question types, length, and skills tested, as well as what tests schools prefer.
