Project Objectives

This project includes a 141,00 SF expansion and 68,000 SF renovation to the existing school, which has remained operational during the multiphased modernization. Poolesville High School (PHS) is a whole school magnet program that serves upcounty students who test into the program as well as those who reside in the school's service area. The school is organized around four educational "houses" composed of small teams of teachers from multiple disciplines, including Global Ecology House, Humanities House, Independent Studies House, and the Science, Math, Computer Science House. The updated facility will be designed with a capacity for 1,500 students and a core capacity for 1,800 students. It will have a 13-classroom addition master-planned to bring PHS to its core capacity. The design is targeting 3 Globes under Green Globes Building Certification and will be a Net Zero Energy ready building.
