Now Available: Questions and Answers Regarding Cigna Medical Plans

In July 2022, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) notified its retirees who are current members of CareFirst that MCPS will offer Cigna instead of CareFirst as a Point-of-Service (POS) or Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) benefit plan provider in 2023. Cigna also will offer Indemnity and Medicare Supplemental plans next year. Understandably, MCPS retirees have questions about if and how this change could affect their medical care.

To help alleviate concerns about the change in medical plan providers, the Employee and Retiree Service Center (ERSC) has prepared written answers to some of the questions that have arisen since the announcement. You will find these questions and answers here.

Should you have additional questions, you may contact ERSC by telephone at 301-517-8100, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. or by emailing ERSC.
