Intermittent Leave Now Available—MCPS employees who meet certain criteria now may apply for intermittent leave through the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The leave is available to qualifying employees for specified family and medical reasons. To qualify, an employee must have worked for MCPS for a minimum of one year and have at least 1,250 hours of service with MCPS within the previous 12 months. FMLA provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave as well as job and benefits protection. MCPS Form 430-1, Leave Request (Requiring ERSC Authorization) and MCPS Form 430-1A, Leave Request (NOT Requiring ERSC Authorization) have been updated to include this new leave type. Learn more.
